Compassionate Inquiry® and Positive Psychology for Men, Women and Partners Impacted by Infertility

Not Here for Fertility Support?

You’re still exactly where you need to be.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, identity shifts, grief, or just feeling stuck,
this is a space for honest healing and meaningful growth.

I offer Compassionate Inquiry and Positive Psychology-based support
for men, women, and individuals of all identities seeking depth, clarity, and change.

Working together will be about you.
But here’s a little of what brought me to this work.

I grew up in a small Flemish town, dreaming of New York City.
I made it happen…career success, city lights, reinvention.
But beneath the achievement lived old trauma, still pulling strings.

When life hit hard, a toxic relationship, 9/11, and the sudden loss of my younger sister, my coping patterns snapped into place.
Talk therapy became survival.
And over time, self-work became a way of life.

By 2015, I’d met my husband and was ready for a new chapter.
But infertility changed everything.

Amid that unraveling, I reached for more than just coping.
I needed clarity. Depth. Something that could hold all the complexity I was carrying.

That’s when I began training with Dr. Gabor Maté in Compassionate Inquiry®, a method that doesn’t just ask what’s wrong with you, but what happened to you.
Alongside that, I earned a diploma in Positive Psychology, exploring how values, meaning, and strengths could be tools for resilience, not bypassing.

Later, I completed a Master’s degree in the Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health at King’s College London, grounding my work in the science of how we think, feel, and heal.

And now, I’m in advanced training with Terry Real in Relational Life Therapy, a model that brings truth, boundaries, and connection back into relationships.

None of this was just education.
It was reclamation.

Each piece helped me meet myself more honestly—and gave me the language to help others do the same.

Now, WHAT is
COMPASSIONATE INQUIRY?

Developed by bestselling author and physician Dr. Gabor Maté, Compassionate Inquiry® helps you uncover the unconscious stories shaping how you feel, think, and respond.

In Gabor’s words:
“The purpose of Compassionate Inquiry is to drill down to the core stories people tell themselves… and guide them to the possibility of letting go of the hold those old stories have on them.”

This work isn’t about fixing you.
It’s about gently meeting what’s driving you, so you can create space for something new.

What to expect in a session?

Compassionate Inquiry® isn’t about fixing, teaching, or analyzing.

It’s a space of deep presence where you don’t have to perform, explain, or prove anything.

As Sat Dharam, co-founder of CI, puts it:
“When therapist and client meet as equals… transformation becomes possible. It’s something beautiful, magical—and a privilege to witness.”

You’ll be met with compassion, curiosity, and respect. Nothing more, and definitely nothing less.

And, what about Positive Psychology?

Positive Psychology isn’t about blind optimism.
It’s about reconnecting with meaning, values, and what makes life feel truly worth living.

As Martin Seligman, founder of the Positive Psychology movement, puts it:
“It takes seriously the bright hope that… there is a road out.”

By exploring how you think, feel, and respond, you start to reshape your reality with intention and create a life rooted in fulfillment, not just function.

"I’ve always admired Dr. Gabor Maté but experiencing his work through Leila’s guidance helped me overcome not only stigma around male infertility, but also some of the deep held beliefs I hold around my own reproductive story. It was hard to get in touch with some parts, but when I did, a new perspective and possibility opened up. Forever grateful."

Miguel, Barcelona, Spain

"Real compassionate listening is the first thing I discovered here. The kind which doesn’t give advise afterwards but rather allowed me to find my own. That is gold. I am a better husband for it. Vielen dank, Leila!"

Bernhard, Hamburg, Germany

"Thank you Leila for showing me the compassionate way to support myself through dealing with trauma! Thank you for being there for me during a difficult period in my life!"

Nargiza, Melbourne, Australia

"This was the first therapist to really get me, not try to fix me or change me. I arrived pretty broken, angry and somewhat lost into my first session. But Leila has an in-depth understanding of infertility and its emotional fallout when trying to support a partner. She has a tremendous compassionate container and ability to offer new ways of looking at life and all the uncertainty and challenges it brings. Thank you, Leila!"

Peter, London, UK

"Leila provided enormous compassion and understanding due to her own lived experience. Knowing that she was always there to listen, guide and help me find new coping methods gave me a newfound strength to deal with what I can only describe as one of the most painful chapters of my life; the inability to conceive naturally."

Myriam, Dubai, UAE

“Leila's way of joining me has helped me grow more into myself and into my body. Her qualities of transparency, steadiness and love allowed me to feel safe to explore painful buried wounds, both with her and later on my own. Grateful beyond words."

Francesca, Northampton, USA

"I've done many years of personal work and have developed a lot of resistance along the way. Leila deeply heard and understood what I was saying and reflected back parts of myself that I couldn't see, but were clearly there. This allowed me to move forward with options I didn't know existed before."

Lisa, Boston, USA

"Leila is a warm, comforting, and compassionate listener. She not only listened, but inspired me to consider alternative ways of thinking, to look inward and treat myself with compassion as well. I have had other counsellors along the way, but Leila had personal experience and awareness of the emotional struggles I was dealing with."

Randi, Niagara Falls, Canada

"Leila is truly the trifecta: she has the lived-experience which is combined with her academic and professional experiences. She is also able to simply hold space, and understands that the goal of this work is not to "fix" something, the goal is self-compassion after a traumatic life event."

Michelle, Paris, France

"I have long been a fan of Dr. Gabor Maté’s work but never had the chance to work with one of his mentees. His approach lends itself so well to reproductive trauma. Leila is truly a compassionate embodiment of his work. Her personal experience with long term infertility is undeniably important for us seeking therapeutic support."

Anusha, Mumbai, India
